Hcromebook: really use some help to correct whatever I am doing wrong. When my mic and cam are both turned on, the speaker’s voice is totally gobbled and mostly inaudible.

Are you close to your router? Have you tried a speedtest from the chromebook. There are several phone apps that check your wireless, and can recommend moving to a different channel etc. The fact that the win tablet works makes this less likely, but it aoom of the troubleshooting.
A chromebook is much less robust in terms of processor etc. I see lots of people having problems with zoom and not with other conferencing programs.

If you type in “Speedtest” in your chrome browser it should come up with some text and a button that says “run speed test”. If you run that and post the results that would help. I soom my Chromebook in an cjromebook that is quite far from the router so the signal is weak. When I have been browsing a lot, opening and closing windows, it sometimes freezes and I have to restart zoom audio issues on chromebook – zoom audio issues on chromebook:.

Some older chromebooks have an ethernet port, but I think most don’t, but they can use a USB network card; something like aurio there’s certainly other options, this chronebook just one from a brand I trust.
My spouse is teaching virtual classes on a Chromebook using Zoom with no problems. All the teachers and students in the school district were issued a Chromebook for remote learning until they return to in person classes.
